J. S. Smith and his daughter Carrie lived in Randolph, Orange County, Vermont. He may have been a physician as he mentions visiting the sick. His son Francis B. was a dentist in New York City; his home was at 11 Waverly Place, off Broadway. Francis was married to Elizabeth, also called Lizzie, whose maiden name may have been Richardson as a Mrs. Richardson lived with them. They had a young son called Frankie.
